We're in the thick of a commercial hardscape job right in the heart of downtown Macon. This one's got everything - site grading, base prep, and a full paver installation in a courtyard space tucked between historic brick buildings. Big scope, serious crew, and a lot of work happening all at once.
Here's the thing most people don't think about with a job like this: the part you never see is the part that matters most. Before a single paver goes down, the ground has to be cut, moved, and graded correctly. We're running a mini track loader through tight spaces to pull material and get the sub-base ready. That groundwork is what determines whether the finished surface holds up for years or starts shifting after the first hard rain.
Once the base is set and compacted gravel is laid, the pavers start going in. Our guys work off string lines to keep everything straight and tight. Every paver is placed by hand. There's no shortcut to doing it right, and you can tell the difference between a crew that cares and one that doesn't.
Commercial work like this is a different animal than a backyard patio. The scale is bigger, the tolerances are tighter, and the stakes are higher. Downtown Macon is seeing real investment right now, and we're proud to be part of it. This outdoor space is going to be something worth showing off when it's done.
We'll keep posting updates as this one comes together. Good things take time - and solid prep work.
