Lake properties come with a unique set of challenges. Sloped terrain, erosion near the water, and the need to actually use the space - not just look at it. That's exactly what we were working with on this Lake Oconee job.

The retaining walls went in first. That's always the foundation of a project like this. Without solid walls holding back the grade, nothing else sits right. We used large-format wall block to build a curved, stacked retaining wall that follows the natural shape of the yard. It's doing serious structural work while still looking clean and intentional.

Once the walls were set, the patio and walkway went in. The paver layout follows the curve of the wall, which gives the whole space a natural, flowing feel. The darker border pavers help define the edges and tie everything together. The walkway leads you right through the space and down toward the water - exactly how a lake property should work.

We're still in the finishing stages here. There's gravel base work being dialed in and a few final details left before this one is wrapped up. But the bones are all there, and it's already looking like a space people are actually going to use.

Lakefront hardscaping has to do two things well - handle the site conditions and look good doing it. Sloped yards, drainage, proximity to water - none of that is forgiving if you cut corners. This is the kind of work we plan carefully from the start, and it shows in the finished product.
